An Irish Journey
No matter where you go in the world, you will probably
encounter someone who was born and bred in Ireland. Throughout the
last few centuries, the Irish have often packed up their belongings
and headed to a new land. They have helped build new societies in
America and other lands.
Often these journeys have been borne out of necessity….
In this section of the website, we will chronicle the journeys of
some of our members who left Ireland to start new lives in America.
Our first story is by long time IAS member Tom Walsh. Tom describes how his family left the US in the early part of the 1900's and went back to Ireland for health reasons. Tom was born in the same thatched cottage that his father was born in Aughamore, County Mayo. Click here to read the inspiring story of Toms family and their journey from Aughamore to Dallas.
Kay Tiller was a much loved IAS member. With no family of her own, the IAS became her extended family. She brought so much joy to the Society. Here, a few of her close friends fondly reminisce about her life. Click here to read about Kays Journey. |
