Message from the 2006-2007 Presidents

Welcome to the Irish American Society website. We are honored to serve as co-presidents of your society for 2006-2007.

We would like to thank the out-going Co-Presidents Dianne and Phil Lowry for an incredible 2005-2006. They did an outstanding job for the IAS.

A little introduction:

Sheila was born and reared in Ireland. She grew up on a farm 3 miles from the village of Drimoleague in west Cork. She’s one of ten children: three boys and six girls. Primary school was in Drimoleague, secondary school in Skibbereen, nursing school in Cork and midwifery in Dublin. She came to Dallas in 1969 “for one year”. She works in the Electrophysiology Department at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas.

Bill who is “Irish by Marriage” was born in Charleston, West Virginia and moved to Dallas as an infant. He has one sister. He attended Preston Hollow, Benjamin Franklin, Hillcrest High School and Tyler Junior College. He has been involved in the Building Materials Industry for 36 years.

Bill estimates he has been to Ireland approximately 40 times.

We have been married for 35 years. We have raised four children: Lisa and husband Marcus Boone live in Austin, Texas with sons Payton Alexander, aged 5 and William McCarthy-Liam aged 3. Cynthia and husband Charley Redden live in Dallas with daughter Julia Margaret born July 25th. Julie and husband Trevor live in Tralee. Julie was the Texas Rose of Tralee 2000. Christopher William lives in Dallas.

We are happy and eager to continue the long-standing traditions of the IAS.

We are looking forward to working with all of you in the year ahead..

Beannacht De orrainn go leir.

Bill & Sheila Dohm

IAS Board 2006-2007

The IAS operates as a non-profit organization following a set of by-laws and objectives. To ensure a consistent direction for the IAS, we are fortunate to have the following volunteers accept responsibility for specific duties within the society.

Board of Directors
Presidents Bill and Sheila Dohm
Vice-President John Barnes
Secretary Cedric and Joan Seley
Treasure Tim and Ev Cassin
Membership Ed and Terry Lynch

If you would like to learn more about these positions and their responsibilities, please contact the current office holder. We suggest that anyone interested in assuming a position in the next election should actively participate in the activities related to the position this year. Perhaps, candidates could volunteer to assist the current officeholder in order to better understand the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Meet the new board

It's that time of the year again and the torch has been passed to a new IAS board.
