Past Wee Bits
Trevor Hegarty from Tralee, Ireland and Julie Dohm, daughter of Sheila and Bill Dohm and our 2000 Texas Rose of Tralee, were married October 1 here in Dallas. Many of their friends from Tralee came "across the pond" to experience an American wedding and to wish the couple all the best. The newlyweds will reside in their new home inTralee.
Wedding bells will be ringing for Bill Beichler and Kelly Krafft on November 19th in Cancun, Mexico. Bill is the youngest son of Nancy McBride, also a long-time member of the IAS. Kelly hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma and is a 2nd grade teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas, Dallas. Kelly is the niece of Bill's oldest brother's wife. Confused?
Many of our IAS members and friends attended the Rose of Tralee Festival this past August in Tralee, Ireland. Cheering on our 2005 Rose, Molly Kealy, were her parents, brother and sister, as well as family friends, Jackie Nelon (Texas Rose Chairman), Marie Welch, Eve and Frank Dunigan and their friend Anna Klos, visiting from Germany, Phyllis Wells, Helen Suessmann, Leo Crowley, his brother from England, and Sue and Phil Faulkner. Molly was an outstanding representative of Texas and made everyone very proud. We understand Molly left Tralee and went directly to Notre Dame where her classes had already begun. Going to Tralee for the Festival and to support our Texas Rose is a fabulous experience and everyone should sample the excitement at least once. So many of our members have made the trip over the years and all return with colorful memories and stories to tell.
Shannon Higgins McFadden and husband Kieran will soon be transferring to Marshalltown, Iowa. Kieran has taken a new job there. Shannon, along with their two young sons will be joining him soon in their new home. Shannon was our 1994 Texas Rose of Tralee. Sheila Higgins, Shannon's mother and a long time IAS member, will be trekking to Marshalltown to help with the move.
Richard Welch has been seen around town lately. He pops into Dallas every now and then in between hurricanes. His job requires organization of materials to be taken out onto rigs in the Gulf area and the recent storms have made his work there very difficult. Marie says he used to live in a lovely house on the beach there, but now lives in a caravan like a Tinker.
Nora Colleran, wife of past member John Colleran, passed away last May after a long illness. Many of our old time members remember the Collerans and all their time and contributions to the IAS over the years.
Carol Anne and Rob Wilson are "over the moon" about the upcoming birth of their first grandchild, due to arrive in November. Daughter Lorraine and husband are even more excited!
Proud mother, Mary Works tells us about her son James. He recently co-authored a book called Fast Innovations. James is President of George Group, a consulting company.
Mary is also the proud grandmother of 12 now. The latest addition to the Works family is Steven Wertz, new son of Sara Works Wertz.
Rosemary O'Neill is recovering nicely from her recent hip surgery. Seems to be in the water, as many of our members have been through this same procedure lately. John Barnard and Lary Leach come to mind. Speaking of Lary Leach - the next time you are in The Trinity Hall, please check one of the photos on the left wall. Anyone you recognize? Now how was he able to do that?
Another great turnout for our last Pub Night at Trinity Hall and owner Marius set out some really delicious goodies for us all. Marie Welch does a splendid job for us, setting up these pubs each month. A good chance to chat and catch up. |
